Neck pain

Neck pain and upper back pain have very similar rates of prevalence to low back pain.

The biggest difference between the neck and the low back is how gravity affects them. In standing your neck and your low back have an arch, your upper back has a hump. The degrees of these curves vary from person to person but we all have a variation of this structure. When you sit the arch of your neck is accentuated while the arch of your low back is reversed.

The treatment of neck pain differs from low back pain because of this anatomical difference, but the principles of treatment remain the same. Reverse the stresses that are causing the pain, correct the underlying mechanical origin of the problem, learn to stabilize and then strengthen the support muscles and feel better!
